Alemtuzumab is a medication showing promise for those with multiple sclerosis.
A new research currently suggests the introduction of a drug named “alemtuzumab” as a means of improving some of the physical inabilities linked to Multiple Sclerosis. Researchers believe that the drug can be used for the treatment of the said disease. Alemtuzumab is known to be a Disease Modifying Drug (DMD) which is considered to lessen the intensity levels of relapses for an individual with Multiple Sclerosis experiences.
On the other hand, according to the Medical Daily, in the journal Neurology, the study which was published Wednesday does not clearly reveal how alemtuzumab enables the reversal of the damage caused by the disease since it is commonly known to be used to treat patients who were not responsive to other drugs.
In one of his statements, study co-author Gavin Giovannoni from Queen Mary University of London said that although a considerable amount of research has been done to slow down the progress of the disease, little is still known about the ability of current treatments to help in restoring the lost functions in the body.
Meanwhile, UPI reports that Multiple sclerosis is a well known erratic type of disease which targets its victim to the central nervous system by gradually changing the flow of information between the body and the brain. However, reports has it that the cause of disease remains to be unanswered.
Moreover, early detection of the said illness may include weakness, tingling, numbness, and blurred vision. Other signs are muscle stiffness, inability to think well and urinary problems.
