It’s important to get tested for hepatitis C.

t’s shocking and frightening when we hear yet another report that a medical facility possibly endangered clients’ health. This time, Westchester-based weight-loss clinics called Tomorrow Medicine have been named as the likely Ground Zero for four new cases of Hepatitis C, a blood-borne illness that can cause permanent liver damage and even death, and costs tens of thousands of dollars — per patient — to treat.

Dr. Timothy Morley’s clinics were apparently such a mess that the state Department of Health immediately suspended his license. Health department officials reported observing inappropriate infection control practices in terms of how medication was prepared, handled and preserved; Morley couldn’t provide patient records, as required by law, that could help the state alert patients.

Morley’s clinics were ordered to cease operations — even before a hearing could take place — because, as a state health department spokesman told our reporter David Robinson, “hundreds could be at risk.”
