More than 200,000 New Yorkers are now infected with Hepatitis C and doctors worry it could get worse.

Experts say the ongoing heroin and opioid epidemic could be to blame because Hepatitis C is spread through contaminated blood.

A big push is now underway to wipe out Hep-c, which now kills more people than HIV in the state.

Public health officials, leaders and medical experts are calling on lawmakers to form an official task force to fight this chronic disease at New York’s first-ever Hepatitis C summit.
