Rheumatoid arthritis pain: This diet could get rid of painful symptoms

A high-fiber diet offers benefits for those with rheumatoid arthritis.

Rheumatoid arthritis symptoms include joint pain and inflammation. The condition is caused by the immune system mistakenly attacking the lining of the joints. This causes swollen and inflamed joints, which can be very painful.

But, eating more fibre-rich foods could help to reduce some of the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, studies have revealed.

Rheumatoid arthritis is an auto-immune condition.

It’s caused by the immune system accidentally attacking the cells that line joints.

This can damage the joint itself, as well as the cartilage and nearby bone.

It’s not clear exactly what instigates the condition, but you’re more likely to develop rheumatoid arthritis if you’re a woman, a smoker, or have a family history of it.

“Eating a high-fibre diet can yield many rewards,” said the Arthritis Foundation.“Fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts and whole grains provide a boost of vitamins, minerals, protein and healthy nutrients.“They might also help lower markers of inflammation—a key factor in many forms of arthritis.”

Fibre-rich diets could also lower the amount of C-reactive proteins (CRP) in the blood, which are markers for rheumatoid arthritis.
