Profile of multiple sclerosis patient, Jim Moffat, who has battled this disease for 22 years.
SUNBURY’S Jim Moffat has accepted having to get around in an electric wheelchair after a 22-year battle with multiple sclerosis.
But he was never going to let that get in the way of him seeing an old mate.
Mr Moffat has been getting his hair cut by one of Sunbury’s original barbers, Santo Puccio, since the hairdresser opened his O’Shanassy St premises 32 years ago.
But a step up at the door was preventing Mr Moffat from entering the shop when he was confined entirely to a wheelchair a year ago.
Mr Moffat came up with the idea of making a small mobile ramp and soon members of the Hume Sunbury Men’s Shed came to the party.
Mr Moffat, also a member of the 100-strong shed community, brought his dilemma to fellow member Peter Wilkinson, who whipped up the ramp out of recycled wood.
